Being a good parent is arguably the most important thing in life. Many parents see their role as being the child’s friend. However, the purpose of parenthood is not to be the child’s friend but to be the child’s mentor. This means providing our children with the tools necessary to effectively face daily challenges. The purpose of parenthood is not friendship (although this might fall out of the process), but to be respected and to serve as a resource in facing daily challenges. Do you agree with this view of parenthood?
